"I Cannot Believe I Am The Same Person"

Capt. Tom!

Honestly I'm not sure what to say. I cannot believe I am the same person I was two years ago when I bought your program. I just want to say THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I know --  I'm sure you get tons of emails like this every month, but I just had to send one more.

Long story short -- I used to fly.

Then I  stopped flying for seven years.

I tried to fly two years ago but had a full-out panic attack on the plane and just before they closed the doors I de-boarded -- hyperventilating and in huge sobbing tears.

I bought your tapes and a few months later I went on a very nerve wracking flight but I did it.

Then a few months later I went on another and used the 5-4-3-2-1 and pilot's letter and did better.

Then a few months after that I went on another used the 5-4-3-2-1 and the pilot's letter and sort of enjoyed myself? Could that be? But boy that Caribbean sure is gorgeous!

And this week I just got back from a flight from St. Louis to Denver to Spokane and back again for a friends wedding. I didn't need to listen to my tapes. I didn't use the pilot's letter. I didn't even need the 5-4-3-2-1. I didn't stress out the month, the week, the night before. In fact on the flight from Spokane to Denver when we hit big time turbulence and a few people were mumbling, "Oh my God" -- I just sat there and kind of enjoyed it. I told myself -- Denver is a bumpy airport because of the mountains, planes love turbulence and the pilot already has told us this was going to happen. And honestly what can you do? You are on the plane already.

And then the ultimate! When on the connecting flight from Denver to St. Louis while on the ground the pilot came on and told us it was going to be a few because we had just had an electrical surge and they needed to recheck the fuel and because of this they wanted to completely do the pre-flight check again -- I just sat there and dozed off until we started moving. I thought to myself, "Good, this flight is getting extra checked." In the past, I would have passed out from fear.

I seriously never, ever thought there would be a day when not only I would fly but that there would be no crying, no anxiety and no stress involved. My fear seems so foreign now -- that I can't quite wrap my mind around how scared I was. I feel ultimate freedom and if those gas prices weren't so high I'd be flying all over the world. :-)

I will tell you -- one of the things that helped greatly was a few weeks ago on PBS there was a special documentary about life on an aircraft carrier. Watching those folks fly those planes and the control they had and listening to some of them go on to talk about becoming commercial pilots -- all I could think of was, "Boy, a flight from St. Louis to Denver with no events must be pretty boring when you are used to zipping on and off an aircraft carrier."

So again, even though I have progressed that I no longer need to hear your voice on my iPod for five hours straight just to get on the plane, I just wanted to thank you for giving me my life back. It's so awesome!

It May Take Several Flights To Prove SOAR Will Always Work

Greetings Tom:

I have your DVD and have watched it. With all the information you have provided me over the years the pre-flight anxiety is finally starting to fade. In the past if I had to fly somewhere -- even to Vegas which from where I live is just a one hour flight -- it would bother me for days in advance. However lately after reviewing and reviewing again there is almost no anxiety at all.

Case in point. Last April I had to fly to Vegas for a Convention. We left the Burbank airport; the flight was one hour. No problem, but I was still tense. Three days later on the return fight the winds had picked up over the desert floor. We were flying Southwest Airlines. I like flying them if for no other reason than the crew has a great sense of humor. Just after take off the pilot said he was going to leave the seat belt sign on the entire trip because it was going to be very bumpy because of the winds. Something in mind at that moment inside of me said, "OK. Enough of the anxiety. You have read all the information about what happens during turbulence and you are going to get through this with no problems." It was really bumpy, and zero anxiety.

My wife looked at me and said what happened. I said, "I don't know but all the anxiety is gone."

She said, "OK, let's test it." She immediately booked a fight from Ontario airport into Spokane on one of those small Express jets that seats fifty. I actually thought that was cool. A two-and-a-half-hour flight. Thirty minutes of it was very bumpy. Zero anxiety. I will test it again in October; I will be flying from LAX to Maui. (If any airlines are left that will fly there.)

Thank you for all you do.
